Student Tips! Social Media Etiquette 101

Have you noticed the ages of students having many social media accounts?

I've seen them as young as SIX years old! Parent and students there are a few great essential tips for protecting your online reputation.

Pew Research Center found that three-quarters of today's 18-29 year olds have a profile on at least one social networking site.

The wrong said things on the social media sites, you may find yourself getting turned down for your dream or  internship years later, or even have the most valuable person view you the wrong way.

Be careful of your language. Be careful about the information you put on these sites because it can sometimes lead to embarrassment and incidents of stalking, identity theft, and harassment.

Think before you post, what we post reflects who we are. Always choose quality over quantity, you should only post pictures and text that you wouldn't mind having other people see, including your parents, college admission officers, and prospective employers.

There is no popularity contest on social sites! Being cool is being smart and most of all adults, children see and mock what we do.....

USA Equal Platforms Blog is hopeful for each and every student we reach. Keep these social networking tips in mind to ensure your well-being and a happy positive social networking experience!
